How badly will good teams be affected by the LPD?

After going and watching Wise/PV today, I have to ask myself this. Norton hadn't seen a team anywhere near Riverheads in the regular season and they lost. GC has lost in the state tournament numerous times in baseball, how will this affect Wise. I dont think I'll get much argument in saying that PV is in the upper half of the LPD in baseball and they got slaughtered. Wise even had a couple errors and PV still couldn't muster up anything. Next year in football you'll have three teams and the rest of the LPD, I know that makes some people mad to hear that but I said last year that when PV/JIB played it was for the LPD Title and it was, Wise will win the LPD in baseball hands down and more than likely wont even lose an LPD game. I think maybe once out of the last 10 years the LPD champ in football has actually had a district loss and we've seen the results up state. Our district is top heavy in every sport, and I think it's hurting us when we make it to the state tournament.

the only thing i can say to this is thank God Kelly has a tough no conference schedule. that is the only way good teams can get better when the level of playing field is so loopsided.

You got that right! The James River is pretty weak from 4-8 in just about every sport. R-H baseball has had Essex on its nonconference schedule and for the past couple of years has been playing Grayson Co. R-H lost four games last year (after crushing Grayson); three were to Goochland and the other was to a very good Altavista team. All the games were close, but somebody had to be a winner and somebody had to be a loser. When you get really deep in the postseason, it's one and done.

LPD is pitiful man, back in the day at least you had one team that could compete with the best today I'm not even sure we have that. How many LPD games has GC lost in basketball since they joined? Wise rocks baseball, PV rocks football, and I'd say after GC leaves JIB will rock Basketball. JIB didn't have any competition this year, none. They beat the D2 Regional Champs by 3 td's and played probably their worst game of the season.

That right there is why we schedule those TN clubs. Wise is going to be solid (next few years), but I know R-H, Goochland and some others are going to be tough as well. I look for us to go to state, and we'll just have to see what happens. We do have to get better defensively.

I know that it won't matter in the LPD after this season, but Coeburn will field some competitive baseball clubs for the next few seasons.

The hitting always seems to get better as the season goes on for most teams.
I'd look at the top 3 pitchers or so. If they are the weak one's on a team. Look for that team to have problems.
Then look to the fielding. It should improve like the batting.
If not. Well you will know who your top team will be
It's early.
But watch the pitching. Whoever has the top 3 best pitcher rotations will end up finishing strong.

And i got that from listening to a few good coaches. 1. Coach Mack Shupe. Ego or not. He knows his game.

Pitching ultimately decides whether you win or lose once you make it into state competition.

I agree thats pretty much how baseball is, pitching wins out in the long run. You wont find many World Series Champs that dont have at least two dominate pitchers and a couple guys in the pen who can sling it.
